2013

After the success of the first-ever BBC Wildlife Magazine Reader's Painting Holiday in the Scottish Highlands in September 2012, Darren is leading the magazine's first overseas Painting Week. Do join Darren and fellow artist Juan Varela for a week sketching and painting in the Extremadura, Central Spain.

Last year Darren was a contributing artist with the Ghost of Gone Birds Exhibition. His painting 'Lost Glory' depicts a group of Carolina Parakeets, North America's only native parrot. After much acclaim the artwork from the project will be brought together in a book and touring exhibition for autumn 2013.

2010

Darren has received the prestigious Arts Club Award at this year’s Natural Eye Exhibition at the Mall Galleries.
The award and membership recognizes a collection of work and is given at the discretion of the renowned Arts Club of Dover Street. Founded in 1893 by, amongst others, Charles Dickens, Anthony Trollope and Lord Leighton, the Arts Club’s members have included Whistler, Monet, Rodin and Degas. Current members include Peter Blake, Grayson Perry, David Frost, Richard Attenborough, Ronnie Wood, and Kim Cattrall.

Darren has also been named a Winner in this year's DSWF Wildlife Artist of the Year. Darren's painting of 'Ice, Kittiwakes and Belugas' was judged winner in the Wild Places category. The work is another from his series of award winning work from the arctic.
